Ryan wins Buccleuch REALM Cup

Harper Adams University student Ryan Warman, 21, from Pontypool, Monmouthshire, is the 2016 winner of the Buccleuch REALM Cup.

The cup is awarded annually to the highest achieving second year student on the Rural Enterprise and Land Management (REALM) degree programme.

Ryan, a former pupil of West Monmouth School, said: “It was a privilege to receive the Buccleuch REALM cup. Second year brought with it its challenges but it is nice to see all the hard work paid off. I am enjoying being back to study for final year following placement.”

Ryan spent his 12 months in industry working for Carver Knowles in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, supporting the professional team with matters including agricultural tenancy law, finance and budgeting, rural property sales and leases and renewable energy.

Ryan has been REALM course representative during his time at the university and is already planning his final year dissertation, which will focus on forestry regulation.

In addition to the Buccleuch Cup, Ryan has been awarded the Royal Forestry Society (North West Midlands Branch) Prees Heath Forest Nurseries Award for securing the highest grade of all students on the Level 5 woodland management module last year.
